Christmas Song, by C. Denney 12- 13-12
well I don't mind Christmas
it's just a little odd
a little too much Jesus
a little too much god
a little too much fruitcake
another virgin birth
getting sick of eggnog
and peace on earth
I've stopped hating commercials
and department stores
when they say merry Christmas
I've stopped saying up yours
I can deal with the angels
and the reindeer too
I've stopped punching out snowmen
and you can do it too
I'm getting used to Christmas
after all these years
and a lot of turkey
and a lot of beers
it's a lot of bells jingling
a lotta balls of cheese
I'd love to kneecap Santa
but I've made my peace
there's an art to Christmas
and I'm almost there
you gotta just not wig out
maybe just not care
don't go all Scorsese
at carols all the time
back away from crazy
before it's Valentine's
not entirely nightmare
but Christmas is a bitch
like a meth head chipmunk
swinging at every pitch
too much Tchaikovsky
and Rimsky-Korsakov
when they say merry Christmas
try not to say fuck off
